What is Zina in Islam?

Nikah has been made the greatest blessings bestowed upon by Allah and how humans can find solace in their partners. Nikah is something that makes life easy with someone you love. However, today we will talk about Zina. In Islam, Zina is considered to be one of the greatest enemies of the Halal Nikah. Allah has downgraded its status to be one of the most disgraceful sins in the eyes of Allah. Most of the Muslims in the community know this fact but even then they fall into the trap of worldly attractions.

Zina is not only harmful for an individual Islamically, but it also poses a great danger to the whole society. Zina is responsible for increasing the burden physically, emotionally, socially as well as economically on the individual who indulges with it.

What does Zina mean?

Zina is the voluntary performance of unlawful intercourse with someone who is not your spouse. Nikah strictly brings obedience for both men and women to remain loyal to their spouses and safeguard their chastity only for the pleasure of one another. In modern language, Zina is equal to adultery.

Zina in Islam?

In Surat-ul-Furqan, Allah has talked about numerous qualities which He considers necessary for His true believers. In the same Surah, Allah mentions that Zina, shirk, and homicide are the most grievous sins that a person should stay away from. Allah says that the committers of these sins earn for themselves multiple sever punishments on the Day of Judgment.

“And those the servants of the Most Merciful, who never invoke any deity with Allah, nor kill the soul that Allah sanctified- except by right, nor commit Zina. And whoever should commit any of that will meet a full penalty. Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day of Resurrection and he will abide therein humiliated.” [Al-Furqan 25:68-69]

Hence, it is an obligation of every Muslim to abide by what has been stated right and what has stated wrong to live a fulfilling life.
